Mission and Strategic Plan

INTRODUCTION

Regional School District 8 is a collective group of students from Hebron, Andover and Marlborough who attend a comprehensive and progressive middle and high school. Also known as RHAM (Regional Hebron, Andover and Marlborough), the district takes great pride in offering students innovative and personalized academic courses and a wide variety of extracurricular opportunities. RHAM middle school enrolls 469 students in grades 7 and 8 and RHAM high school currently has 1013 students in grades 9 through 12.

Region 8 is overseen by a Regional School Board with representatives from each of the three towns on the Board of Education. The
11-member Board is comprised of members from each of the three towns and is apportioned as follows: two from Andover, five from Hebron and four from Marlborough. Terms of office of Board of Education members are for four years.

The work of creating this strategic plan was accomplished by a dedicated group of volunteers representing the Region 8 Board of Education, administration, faculty, students, parents, and members from the three town’s Board of Selectmen. The group met monthly from October 2017 to March 2018 and spent numerous hours outside of meeting times providing input and feedback. The result of these efforts is a strategic plan that represents the voice and beliefs of all Region 8 stakeholders.

The strategic plan represents an overview of the priorities of the district. It will provide transparency and accountability as the district works to achieve its Mission and Vision. The Theory of Action, Commitments and Goals are important levers that can be included in all district activities and will drive Region 8’s improvement efforts. The plan will guide and influence district based decision making and provide guidance in budgeting and programming; ultimately resulting in improved student success.
